Beach 4 – Acrylic on Canvas – 12” x 12”
This painting is 4th in a series inspired by natural patterns observed on an ocean beach.
The variety of froth and foam patterns left behind on the wet sand by receding ocean waves. What interested me was the way this sudsy effervescence formed and held delicate lacelike patterns long, long after the wave had ebbed.
The painting is done in acrylics on canvas with a mixture of liquid acrylic and partially dried gloss medium used to form the lacelike patterns of the foam. Glazes, rubbings, alcohol resist and copper metallic paint was also employed.
